 Dear Golfer,

The winter is over and with the advent of spring we look forward to an active golf season for 2008.

The Israel Golf Federation has received a number of invitations to participate in some very interesting and important tournaments in Europe and the and we intend to send individuals and teams to these events.

The following is a list of tournaments:

1. British Junior Open: Southport – :  14-16 July. Age16. One boy and one girl.

2. Riverwoods Junior Open: Toxandria Golf Club – Holland :  15-19 July: Age 21. Handicap limit: boys 0 – girls 1. One boy and one girl.

3.Russian Amateur Open: Golf & Yacht Club – Moscow :  16-21 July: No age limit: Handicap limit: Men 6, Ladies 10. National Team of 4 Golfers.

4.European Young Masters: Chantilly – :  26-28 July: One boy and one girl.

5.British Boys Amateur Championships: Sutton Coldfield – : 11-16 August: Age limit -18.Handicap limit 3.4. One boy.

6.British Girls Amateur Championships: Dundee – : 11-15 August. Age limit – 18. Handicap limit 9.4. One girl.

7.2008 European Men Seniors Team Championships: Shannon – : 13-16 August. Age limit: +55 yrs. Handicap limit – 9. Team of 6 Senior Golfers.

8.Turkish Amateur Open Championships: Belek – :  6-9 September. No age limit – Handicap limit 4. Team of 3 Golfers & manager.

9.Duke of York Young Champions Trophy: – 16-18 September:  Age limit 18: One boy, one girl (National Champions) and a manager.

The candidates for the junior tournaments will be notified in due course.

Please note that tournaments no. 3 and 8 are for ALL ages with handicap limits of 6 and 4 respectively and tournament no.7 is for Men Senior Golfers with handicap limit of 9 and all candidates must be 55 years or more on 13 August 2008

In view of the fact that due to the temporary closure of the Caesarea Golf Club , many of our golfers have not been playing for some months, and because we feel that it is important that all golfers in Israel who fall within the age and handicap limits should have an equal chance of competing for a place on the various teams, we intend to hold a series of trial events at the Gaash Golf Club – dates to be announced – but we need some urgent information, especially regarding the ages and contact details of possible candidates – most importantly those of you who have a handicap of 9 or less and will be 55 years old on 13 August 2008.

All golfers in Israel, who hold an Israeli passport , whether or not they are members of either one of the golf clubs, will be eligible to compete, provided they have paid their annual dues of 170 shekel and are therefore fully paid up members of the Israel Golf Federation.

There will be no entry fee but those golfers who wish to compete in the trial events but are NOT members of the Gaash Golf Club will be required to pay a regular green fee with a discount of 30%. The golfers who are chosen for the teams will be sponsored as follows:

Russian Open (no.3) – Full expenses paid for a team of 4

Turkish Open (no 8) – Full expenses paid for a team of 3 and a manager.

European Men Seniors Open (no.7) – Partial sponsorship – Each team member will receive an amount of $1100 toward air fare and accommodation and it is my estimate that this should cover approximately 70-80% of the total. There is a charge of 1000 euro./team which covers entry fee, practice balls and golf trolleys as well as team photographs and this will be carried by the Israel Golf Federation.

Attached to this letter is a list of possible candidates which due to reasons out of our control may not be a complete list so that if anyone has been left out we will be very happy to add his name. There may also be some queries regarding handicaps and in all cases this will be corrected where necessary.

The deadline for receipt of information is Wednesday 30 April 2008 at 2000 hrs.

At that time the list will be closed and only those of you who have confirmed intention to participate and who have provided all the details will be part of the selection process. PLEASE CONTACT

 I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all our golfers that the 18^th Maccabiah will take place in July 2009.

The trials for 2008 overseas tournaments, as listed above, will begin the selection process which will continue through the Israel Open to be held at Gaash in November 2008 -  all results will be taken into consideration by the selection committee.

To the Lady members of the federation – please be patient. I know that your section has not been included in this program but this is due to the fact that the handicap limits for the European tournaments make it impossible for us to send representatives. The committee is doing it's best to find a suitable tournament and should any one of the ladies have any information regarding possible venues we will be only too happy to make every effort to send a team of lady golfers abroad.

We have some exciting times to look forward to and I wish you all a very enjoyable and successful golfing summer and I intend to finish the year with a very special Israel Open at the end of November which as usual will be sponsored by EuroAsia, exclusive importers of Rolex.
